Archaeo-optics in Orkney Day 2: The Journey to Hoy

It was bright and breezy day as we crossed Scapa Floe on the Hoy Head ferry, our destination the rugged island of Hoy.

After a quick visit to the island's shop in Longhope to stock up on vital supplies, we headed along single-track roads to the crofting township of Rackwick.
