A skyline walk along the main ridge of the Simonside Hills reveals a series of Bronze Age burial mounds that have interesting relationships to rock formations and the sky.

Given the likely importance of marine travel for moving people, animals and materials in prehistory, today we visited the peninsular of Tarbat Ness which is not far from the village of Portmahomack. Located across the Dornoch Firth from Loch Fleet this offered a marine-orientated perspective upon the area we have been fieldwalking over the past two weeks.

There are only a few more fields in a suitable condition to survey, so we have moved to higher groundwith wide views overlooking Golspie. In the afternoon we went to the present-day shoreline to see what raw materials could be found.
